Sony unveils PS3 Slim: $299 at Amazon! Overview and specs.

Sony confirmed and showed the brand new PS3 Slim. And yes, the new and slimmer PS3 is really real and will be available on stores on September 4th 2009.  And there is more, the older models (the new Fat PS3) had a $100 price cut too!

So what is the new PS3 Slim about? It is slimmer, lighter and comes with a bigger hard drive. Also Sony says it consumes 25% less power and it will run more quietly than their fat sisters. Here are the Spec sheet (source Engadget):

Concurrently with the PS3 Slim, the new 3.0 firmware will be released, updating the systems of the existing machines. Some of the new features will include BRAVIA Sync, which allows you to control the PS3 XMB over HDMI through your BRAVIA TV remote, and System Standby to shut off the PS3 when the BRAVIA TV is off.
